Midalidare New Zealand – a story in motion
We have successfully launched another project and Midalidare New Zealand is developing in both Marlborough and Central Otago, with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir respectively. In late 2023, we introduced on the market the first wine produced and bottled by Midalidare in New Zealand. A year later, armed with more confidence, encouraging reviews and excellent consumer acceptance, we are proud to announce the expansion of our overseas range.
Marlborough Craiglochart Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is joined by two more wines – a long-awaited red and a surprise one in white.
The beautiful Northburn terraces are sited on Lake Dunstan's steep east bank at 300m above sea level. Tūī bird song embraces the ancient Kōwhai tree overhanging on the slopes above the Stag's Run vineyard. Eons of northern winds shape the land, depositing sediments where clay and schist merge in a delicate equilibrium. The unforgiving, rocky, glacial soils produce wines with structure and intensity. We present our single vineyard Midalidare New Zealand Central Otago Stag’s Run Pinot Noir - an inspiration for future generations at Midalidare, a seed of the most precious part of Central Otago. Aromas of dark cherry, forest berries, and hints of violet waft through the air. The palate, long and concentrated, is dominated by wild plum and dried herbs, while dense tannins weave the balanced and seductive structure with fine French oak hints.
2024 offered a perfect conditions for a small but stellar harvest in Waihopai Valley. Thus, Craiglochart Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Reserve was born – yet another surprise by Midalidare. A selection of the best grapes from the best block - this is our Sauvignon Blanc Reserve. Inspired by a great vintage for Marlborough, our team created a beautiful expression of the supreme part of Craiglochart vineyard.
Both wines are now available. We look forward to receiving feedback from the New Zealand’s style enthusiasts and from our loyal fans. We continue to work hard and with great passion both at home and abroad in our quest to become better with each new vintage.
